Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need?
An initial series of 3 treatments within a 7-10 day period is recommended. More treatments may be required in cases of chronic conditions.

Will one colonic completely empty the colon?
'Magic bullet' thinking says one colonic will open the floodgates and I will be home free. If it were that easy, colon therapist would not exist. It can be very challenging to have the contents of the colon flow out freely. Sometimes it takes work, repeated sessions close together to crack the nut or break the damn, not to mention the lifestyle and attitude changes.

Many of us have a considerable amount of impacted waste in our colon accompanied with muscle, nerve, immune and hormone deficit. Substantial work must be done. The second and subsequent colonics may release more material as your body tunes into releasing, muscles become more supple, the area becomes more hydrated and bacterial/fungal sources of nerve damage are reduced.

At Cleansing Waters "first timers" receive 2 colonic appointments ideally 2-4 days apart. The first 1 ½ hr visit consist of a review of the health history forms, education of the digestive system, a take home informational packet, and then the colonic.

Is it necessary to take a "series" of colonics?
It depends on your objective. One or 2 colonics may be all that's necessary to recover from travel, flu, fever, back or headache, transient constipation or a small fast or cleanse. However, overcoming lifelong constipation and/or redundancy, creating multiple bowel movements, overcoming illness and achieving vital health may require regular colonics for some time. It has taken years to create your current body condition. One has to factor in body condition, how well you respond, and possible needed lifestyle and attitude changes.

After your first colonic, you can discuss with the therapist how many sessions you might need and how often. Many people benefit from doing a series of anywhere from 5-25 colonics to bring the body back into balance. One might begin with 1-5 in the first week, then going to once a week, once every two weeks and then longer periods for maintenance depending on the individual condition. Keep an open mind, be open to what you might experience, what you might learn about yourself and your intestines through this process.

Does Colon Therapy wash out the good bacteria
in the colon?

Colon Therapy will cleanse the good and bad bacteria from the bowel - but so does a regular bowel movement. But because we are cleansing large amounts of toxins and putrefied matter from the bowel, the environment to re-establish the good bacteria is much better. So it is important to take acidophilus and bifidus (good bacteria) after getting colonics.

Who can benefit from Colon Therapy?
Nearly everyone can benefit from Colon Therapy. The colon is one of five eliminative organs in the body. Colon Therapy is an excellent and safe way of eliminating toxins from the body and the less toxins we have in the body the healthier we will be and the stronger our immune systems will be.

Will this cause my bowels not to eliminate on its own?
Absolutely not! Because Colon Therapy exercises the colon creating better peristalsis (muscle contraction) it will actually help it to function and eliminate much better.

Will I experience any side effects?
Most clients feel much lighter and more energetic and rarely may temporarily experience slight headache or fatigue. This is why a series of 3 treatments is important.
